SAIL, BoatWorks Writers Win Awards

Three SAIL and BoatWorks writers were recognized for excellence in journalism at the recent Boating Writers International annual award ceremony held during the Miami International Boat Show in Florida. Awards were given in 16 categories for “excellence in creating compelling stories about the boating lifestyle through entertaining, educational, and inspiring journalism.”

  • Electronics Editor Ben Ellison took the top prize in the Electronics category for “The Future of NMEA 2000,” a comprehensive look at why it's taken seven years for N2K to catch on (February 2007 SAIL).

  • Editor-in-Chief Peter Nielsen won 3rd place in the Boating Travel or Destinations category for “The End of The World,” a tale of his adventure cruising the challenging waters of the Beagle Channel and Cape Horn (November 2007 SAIL).

  • Senior Associate Editor Dave Baldwin was recognized with a Certificate of Merit in the Boat/Engine Care and Maintenance category for "Outboard Rebuild," his step-by-step story about bringing a seized outboard motor back to life (Fall 2007 BoatWorks).
